It is difficult to write with the aroma of chocolate cookies in the air.  They smell so good, and I am sure they taste just as good as they smell.  My daughter and her friend are the ones in the kitchen mixing up the dough, rolling out the balls of dough, and smashing the dough balls to flatten them.  They did have a few minor hiccups along the way.  For instance, they didn’t realize that 2 tbsp. of milk means 2 tablespoons and not 2 teaspoons of milk.  Also, they weren’t sure what flatten with bottom of cup dipped in sugar meant either.  A little demonstration of how to do that was all that was needed.  They are laughing, giggling, and dancing to the latest pop tunes as they work.  I hope that the students who eat these during lunch enjoy them as much as the girls enjoyed making them for them, and I have a feeling that the teacher who asked them to do this doesn’t even realize how much the girls are learning as they bake.  It may not be ‘book learning,’ but being able to bake a good cookie is a very important skill!
