Holidays

This is a holiday weekend for our family. However, the holiday isn’t the same since everyone is scattered. I knew this day would come, but it doesn’t mean I have to like it.  I have been told that I would miss the days when my kids were little after they are gone. Well, they are not quite gone yet, but I believe I will be catching a glimpse of that time period this weekend.  I really hope that it will be nice outside this weekend so that I can get outside and not be inside staring at the empty seats at the dining room table.

Even if it won’t be the best Easter here, to those who celebrate the holiday-Happy Easter!

  1. Oh, that is such a sad image: you staring at the empty dining room chairs. I have absolutely no plans until after the Easter weekend, when I will see my mom and daughter.
I find the quiet of living alone, with my cat, sometimes so agreeable and recharging after work…but when holidays come it is too quiet.
So, I go out of doors and work in my garden and yard.

Hope you had a lovely day. Happy Easter. (I don’t formally celebrate it any more, but I like the themes…rebirth, ressurection…not talking about bunnies and chicks.)

  2. Oh I suspect your family is changing – as are they all – and it is SO hard to miss them – those that have goen and those that are not here…It makes all holidays bittersweet…like the best chocolate…and yet biting at your soul for more of the sweetness we remember. Try, if you can, to do some different things…it seems to help me…and to give…and do for others…even random others…I hope you find some solice in the day ahead.

  4. It is very very hard staring at the empty chairs once they leave but just try and hang in there and think about how great it will be when you are all together again!

  5. I hope you get good weather. I’d say I’ll be in your place in a few short years. This year, though, we’ll have extra guests since my daughter is having a friend over for tonight.

  6. The empty seats at the dining room table. I will have trouble with those as well.

  7. Hoping that your days have surprising moments of joy. Looking at empty chairs is very difficult.
