Learning to Improve Lives

To Improve

Learning

Is happening.

I am not in a school,

but I am in a place of education.

The students and teachers are

young,

old,

and many ages in between.

In some of the classrooms, there is

silence.

In other classrooms, there is

talking.

In a third classroom, there is

laughing.

In all classrooms, there is

learning.

The students,

the teachers

and the supervisor are

learning.

The youngest is learning

how to write an essay

for a private high school application.

The oldest is learning verb tenses:

sneeze

to

sneezing

to

sneezed

to

will sneeze.

The teachers are learning

how

each individual student

must be treated with

respect

in order to learn

what each student needs

to learn

to improve

his or her life.

The supervisor

is learning

how much education

happens outside

the walls of a school building.

It is dark outside,

and

we keep learning.

  1. I love how you broke up the phrases of the poem. And yes. So much learning happens outside a school building!!

  2. I love the form of this poem and the repetition you used! Learning happens all the time, regardless of age or stage in life…we can foster this pursuit of learning in our students each day!
