Toilet Paper Dilemma

Filed under: Uncategorized — mvervinck @ 2:45 am

For the entire month of March I am participating in the Slice of Life Story Challenge.  Here is my tenth installment.  (Yes, I am tired and really struggling to find a slice of my life to write about today, but I am determined to post something…)

I know that I am not alone in this dilemma.  How is it in a family of six I always seem to be the one who has to dig the new toilet paper roll out of the cupboard, rip off the spent roll, and replace it with a brand new roll of toilet paper so that the toilet paper comes over the top of the toilet paper roll?  I know that other members of this wonderful family are very capable of doing this very simple task.  I know that someone in the family can locate new toilet paper rolls because I do find new toilet paper rolls sitting on the counter beside the toilet.  Usually this happens when there is absolutely nothing left on the toilet paper roll on the holder.  Also, I know that my family can conserve toilet paper very well, too.  It is amazing how little toilet paper can be used when they know if they use too much, they will have to be the one to get a new roll out from under the sink.  I swear they must be using half of a teeny tiny square sometimes so that they do not have to get out a new roll.

I did do a quick search on the Internet to see if I could find instructions or something to help my family understand how to do this very important chore.  Guess what!  There are instruction sheets and even a video available.  These may be just the things I need to help the other members of my family with this chore.  I know that they can do it!

Hmmm…I guess I am not the only one with empty toilet paper tubes in the bathroom!

  1. You are not alone! I seem to be the only person in my house of 5 who knows how to put a new roll of toilet paper on the holder. I will often come in to find an empty roll on the holder and a brand new roll sitting 2 inches away on the counter. Why is this so hard?! It literally takes 3 seconds to change. I don’t think any amount of instructional videos or posters will get anyone else to take care of it. Good luck, though!

  2. So funny! I decided years ago that changing the toilet paper roll was just part of my karmic yoga for this lifetime, and ever since I change every one I come across. It really helped me to quit being irritated by having to be the only one! I don’t know what’s so hard about it anyway!!

  4. I am laughing out loud at your post! It seems we moms are the ONLY ones who know how to change the TP. Thanks for writing this post – loved it!

  5. This is indeed a slice of life that so many of us share… How is it that we are the only ones who are able to refill the TP holder??
