Blah, Blah, Blah

Every have one of those days where all you do is talk?  That was my day today.  It started with lecturing about slips of the tongue and ended with chatting with another professor.  Throughout the day, I would get started on something on my to do list, and then, someone would come by my office for a chat.  Of course, I stopped what I was doing to talk.  Student issues and successes to book orders and teaching schedules to personal issues and weekend plans, the topics were as varied as the people I interacted with.  Then, my cell phone rang.  It was my daughter checking to see why I wasn’t home yet.  Where did the day go?  I didn’t even realize that I should have left for home because I swear it had to be just past noon.  How wrong I was!  It was past 3:00.

I grabbed my purse and bag and headed out the door.  Just as I get to my car, I realize that it is the weekend.  Not only did the day fly by, but the week flew by, too.  Time to head home and enjoy a quiet evening at home.  Yes, I do enjoy talking, but I also crave peace and quiet in order to renew and recharge for next week which will be here before I know it!

Have a great weekend!

Looking out the window, I just spied two friends searching for some yummy tender greens.

  1. I keep thinking about Carol Jago’s admonition to “talk less and listen more.” I also think about a twist on that: “Talk less and say more.” Today was a day in two classes in which I felt as though I talked more and said less, but thin in my dual credit comm class I got to listen to fabulous speeches. Indeed, sometimes the day feels like it ends before it starts.

  2. I’ve had days like these. It’s fun when you chat but it’s also good to power down! Have a great weekend…your deer are beautiful!
